Chrome js acting strange

Date: Feb 13    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 439

Im not sure when exactly this started but Ive noticed
that I cant access some sites.

For example, on one membership site I can see the
video but I cant make any comments.

Now another site http://www.purerawcafe.com/ I thought
was down because all I see is a white screen.

So I tested both sites out on an hunch on Opera and FF
and they both work. So I started looking about and it
seems its something to do with javascript. That I found
a bit odd since google is pretty out there with their
testing of scripts.

Instead of clicking on the link to open. Left click on the
mouse and select "Open Incognito" Or open the page the same way. It is like
going to YouTube and trying to to play a vid. It just stops. If "Incongnito" is selected. It will run.

Incognito mode changes your settings. It is best to use it as Guest rather
than your main ID. You might have to clear your history and start fresh if
you cannot get it to work. All of your extensions/ add-ons will work if you
delete cookies and clear the history and even if you delete the full
settings folder (username/.config/google-chrome or chromium for it), as
long as you are using the latest version which keeps a record in the cloud.

Tried both - still had an issue.

I dont have any ext on chrome other
than the weather extension.

I contacted the owners of the two sites
I noticed the problem on the most and
apparently both have had updates done
and both are having trouble with chrome
clients so, that is semi-good to hear.

You might want to try removing and re-installing it from scratch using the
Google site. You should perhaps remove Google from your sources first.
Maybe that will get you back to an even start. Barring that you could try
Chromium instead and see if the same thing happens.

I received a support email from one of the sites saying try it now and,
sure enough, the video runs now, the comment button runs but, now there is
no sound - at all. Just to make sure, I tried all my linux computers with
chrome browsers and on that site, I had the exact same issue.

In the same browser, youtube works fine. And many
other sites work fine. And I would normally say its
just that site however, its just here and there very
specific things that are happening.

Oh well. Ill keep watch on them and use FF for those
sites than Im having issues with.
