change the browser

I really enjoy Kubuntu but would like to change the browser.
But don't know where to start first.
Kubuntu is very unique it took me a while to figure out where everything was,
I'm very familiar with windows. But ubuntu 8.10 is very simple on minor things
such as screen save wallpaper, anyone with a little common sense can figure out
some of the minor things. My blind spot is installing software that's where I
can use some help with. Kubuntu is very complex to me is a challenge and yet
almost impossible to figure out. Its style is really remarkable and its features
explicitly the graphics are very remarkable.
I can use some help with this issue like change in the browser.
And installing programs software any suggestions I will appreciate it.
Some basic steps to take.
I am no engineer to Ubuntu but in time we all pick up on little things.

There are many simple guides on the net, a quick google with the words
installing software on kubuntu came up with several. Mostly talking about
adept. Personally I prefer synaptic. To install this open a terminal, type
sudo apt-get install synaptic push enter, type tour password in when prompted
and say yes to the bits it wants to install. Once done synaptic package
manager should show up in your menu, usually under system. Fire up synaptic
and then you are able to browse the repositories by section or use the search
tool, whatever your preference. Actually installing software with linux is
way better than windows, because using the tools solves all your dependency
problems 99% of the time.

Ubuntu uses GNOME as the desktop and Kubuntu uses KDE4. They are like night and
day. GNOME is deliberately made simple with few configuration options to give a
very usable system. KDE uses a different approach. It is meant to give the user
all of the bells and whistles. KDE4 is quite new (only a ear old) and is a major
rewrite using the latest version of QT, the programming environment upon which
KDE is based. Because it is new, features are still being added. A new version,
4.2 is due out at the end of the month and I am using it now. It is great.

Both GNOME and KDE use the sme package manager, Synaptic. You use Synaptic to
add new programmes. There are at least a half a dozen browser choices.

However, since KDE comes with Firefox already so you can use it. You will want
to use it as your default browser and changing that is quite easy. Just start
Firefox from the menu under Internet. It will ask you if you want it to be your
default browser. If it doesn't you can change that setting so that it prompts
you to do so. It is in Firefox's Preferences (under Edit ion the an the menu) on
the Advanced group of tabs. Just check the box at the bottom.

You can also edit your settings in the Favorites section of the menu | S ystem
Settings and then go to Default Applications | web browser. In the box at the
bottom click on the radial button and type firefox with a capital.
