BBC iPlayer

I live in the UK. Just finished watching a programme using the BBC's
iPlayer. On exiting from the viewing screen I noticed an explanation
from the BBC stating that the iPlayer only available on Windows! So
BBC, thanks for telling me, but thanks more for the fact that I
watched the programme before seeing the warning!

Obviously using Ubuntu, and Firefox, and the programme appearing in a
Firefox window.

Anyone any technical explanation about what is going on? And why might
the BBC feel the need to display that warning, as on :-

It may be that the exit triggered an error message from the BBC
server. It may even be an older error message that was not kept
updated. That you can watch the show, proves that it will work under
Unbuntu.

Normally such messages pop up when a stream fails to start.

You can stream the video just fine on any web browser with Flash
installed, but you cannot download the programme for off-line viewing
unless you're running Windows, thanks to Microsoft managing to hoodwink
the BBC into believing that DRM actually works.

I dont know but I cant view it as its only available to UK residents. They might
just mean that they only officially support Windows but if it works on anything
else - thats ok too.
