Auto fillout

Date: Feb 18    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 297

A friend of mine is filling out resumes. For this one company, every day or so
they have job openings. Each time they have to fill out the very long
application instead of them saving your first application in a database and
having them use it.

Using 12.04 with Firefox, Chrome or some-other-way to fill out the same job
application automatically after it has been recorded a previous time?

you could make a spreadsheet into the application form and just either printout
or send as email attatchment.
screenshot to capture the form !!

I thinking like you but was surprised at how many business, at least
where I live, still use either there on-line only form that must be filled
out every time for every job with them you apply for or use FAX, no email
of attached form. Talk about businesses living in the backwards age of
Windows.

I wonder if copy'n'paste would work from another doc file or tab, or would their
online app time out? Of course, it may not allow copy'n'paste your answers
either.

I doubt they will allow the whole form or forms to be copied and pasted and
coping and pasting each individual text box, saving or printing your
original application then just type in the text in the original print out.
Anyway, to me these business are living in the past. The nineteen nineties
was over a decade ago. (To be honest, a company like that probably isn't a
company you want to plan a long future with anyway because in a few years,
if their data gathering and documentation isn't upgraded they will be out
of business.)

The iMacro Firefox add-on will allow you to create a macro that will
fill out a form online. I haven't used it but read a good review on it
from Cnet.

Thank you, I'll look into iMacro.

Have you seen this:
support.mozilla.org/.../control-firefox-automatically-fills-in-forms

I routinely fill in an entire form, about a dozen fields, with about three
keystrokes, and would expect it to work with larger forms.

See also:

There's also this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/autofill-forms/
but I have never needed it.
