To expand a bit on the reason for reversion. I have used Linux for
several years and have looked ('played?') at various distro's.
I still do that when time allows and with a preference for KDE have
Mepis Kubuntu Chakra and AVLinux living on the elderly desktop, and
any of the latter three liable to change if something else appears.
Mepis may be a bit behind the times but it is stable
and I always know what to expect with it. Apart from my open source
interests, I am the moderator of, and provide tech support to a medium
sized group using a specialised CAD programme for quilt design. This
generates a pile of email and needs fairly frequent web access. I'm
writing training notes for this group and for two other groups using Lyx
as my word processor/publication editor. All of this will be
based on Mepis - where it used to be. Perhaps Warren will release
an update ? If I am still on this earth then, I will continue to
use Mepis as I can expect it to behave properly and not waste such
little time as may be left to me.
