If I understand you right, what you are trying to do is formatting
subtext within a cell. There's a simpler way to format text like
superscript/subscript or add blank lines with a cell and subtext.

To format text to superscript/subscript, in the formular jus
highlight the characters you want to format then right click, then
select "Format Cells..." and choose your formatting from the dialog
window.

To add a blank line within a cell, just place the cursor where the
blank line needed to be and hold down the "Alt" key follow by
the "Enter" key...
