If you do not understand Access then you need to talk to the person who
designed the Access application. There are a number of options for opening
and sharing Access databases  including options for record  and table locking
which might impact on what you want to do.

It would also depend on whether the recordset  you are using is an updatable
recordset or a snapshot.

You really need someone who understands Access and VBA to help you.
