Wi-Fi AWOL

My son just gave me an Acer Aspire 3100. First I installed 10.11 and tried
the wireless and got this message

Wireless Firmware missing
Hardware Address 00:19:7D:75:51:5A

So I updated to 04.12 and got

Wireless missing
Hardware Address 00:19:7D:75:51:6A

The wireless worked fine in Windows Vista. Any help, any ideas?

You probably need to connect by Ethernet cable to your router, then run
"Additional Drivers" to get what you need.

If you run the command: lspci

one of the lines should include "802". That's the wireless adapter. Tell us what
it says, including any version, please? It might also provide fuel for a Google
search.
