Unrelated ?

I recently "fiddled about" with my environment
variables in windows xp home edition in a vain attempt to
get textpad to compile and run my first yr java
programs(Im still pulling my hair out), I think I may have
inadvertantly destroyed other variables on my pc, primarily I
think I must have altered something which now means I
cannot run commands from cmd.exe or command prompt
whatever its called. If anyone could advise that this
could be the case I would be very greatfull and if they
could suggest a remedy to my problem even
better

a little more info would help. were you compiling
and running java programs previously? were you using
the command  line or an IDE Tool to run  java? what
type of error codes are you getting? stuff like that
will help if you can provide it.

Lets say I try to type netstat at the command
prompt, I get an error saying 'netstat' is not recognized
as an internal or external command, operable program
or batch file.<br>I get this with most other command
also however the fuctions such as dir work
fine.<br>Almost as an aside, no I didnt get my programs running
because I still cant get Text pad to compile  and run  a
program!
