UML tools and Java

Asked By: Elliott    Date: Jul 10    Category: Java    Views: 727

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive UML tool that can work with Java.
I have worked with TogetherSoft in the past and thought it was nice.
I've seen an Embarcadero demonstration and thought it was really
slick, but I can't afford it. Does Sun ONE Studio have built in UML
tools? Is there an opensource UML modeling tool someone can direct me
to?

Have a look at www.gentleware.com, they have a UML
tool known as Poseidon, which comes at almost no cost
at all.

Though I love TogetherSoft's TogetherCenter and Rose's
Rational Rose but they are a bit expernsive.

Enterprise Architect for the Windows Platform allows java/c++ code
generation from the CASE tool.

http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/

A popular open source uml  CASE tool  is argoUML. This is written in
Java and is available from

http://www.argouml.org/

There have also been a number of spin-offs from argoUML I beleive.
You could try and search sourceforge.net for UML or CASE tools  and see
what you find.
