Any one know if Ubuntu 1210 will run ok on a Toshiba all in one desktop computer?I am up for a new computer shortly and I can get one of these for a good price.Being on an old age pension any good byes are great.
Can't see why it wouldn't install Ubuntu just fine but it would haveto be a very good price compared to other systems. Specification wiseit's nothing special really ( core i5 / 4Gb DDR3 / 1Tb HD / 64Mb Intelgraphics ) and what you are paying for is the touch screen and fancystyling :-) Also worth noting that working on such systems is not aseasy as either a tower system or laptop plus upgrades are harder toosuch as a better graphics card.
Thanks for your reply, the price is very good (cost) & I do not need anythingbetter then what it is for email/forums/simple spreadsheet etc. Am past fiddlingwith computers, just want something that works.
The problem with ¨All - in - one PCs is that the replacement ofreplaceable units is much more expensive than in a desktop PC with separatemonitor, since you are stuck with the same manufacturer (manufacturerlock-in)Example : Currently the graphics card in my desktop PC randomly stopsworking and I have to re-start the PC.Following arrival of a new graphics card (more up to date model at similarprice as exiting one) it will be simple to change the card.A desktop PC + separate monitor might involve more space and cables but isso more versatile.
