screen resolution

Date: Feb 11    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 408

After downloading/installing several KDE packages I rebooted to find my
screen resolution was now limited to 640x480 and 320x240.
Could someone tell me what file(s) I should look at to restore my previous
choices?

Something has evidently messed up the graphics driver :-( It would
help if we knew which version of Ubuntu you are using as adding KDE
packages to a non-KDE version is different to adding them to Kubuntu
itself.

Basically you need to re-install the graphics driver but again that
depends on the graphics card used ( Intel, ATI, NVidia ).

I am running Ubuntu 11-10 on an Nvidia. Reinstalling the driver is fairly
easy.
