I asked this question before, but someone went off on a tangent and the
question was not addressed. Anyway, I hope one of you can stir me in
the right direction. I'm running ubuntu 10.10 and attempting to do file
searches using both Dolphin and Nautilus, but running into problems.
How come when I click and highlight a mounted drive to search for a
given set of file and press the search button, the context changes to:

Nepomuksearch / Query on (my search term) and nothing comes up

I want the context to remain in the directory - drive which I have
highlighted, but it changes and I cannot do searches. I tried looking
up something about configuring Nepomuksearch, but it was not very clear
to me.
