Excel Chart

Asked By: Ashley    Date: Aug 27    Category: MS Office    Views: 701

I want to be able to plot variable data on a "calendar" chart - hours
worked each day of a month (or a pay-period, or a week, or whatever)
shown as a scaled vertical bar, and with successive months(pay-period,
week, ...) stacked one above the next in a grid-like fashion. Each row
has to use a time-scale of some sort, because the unworked days are as
significant as the active periods. None of the charting options
appears to approach even vaguely near what I want, but maybe I'm
missing something?

You probably need a Gantt chart. This can be fudged by using a stacked bar
chart. Look at this article for detail.

Alternatively you could use Visio or a specialised business graphics package
like Harvard or ABC but not in Excel. I have also seen charts prepared by
colouring cells on a spreadsheet but they are usually quite clumsy.
