disable services

is there a site that tells what services i can disable? [810]
something like "black viper"

I've never heard of this black viper?

If you are talking about kernel modules, then in general Ubuntu comes
preset with blacklisted drivers that you enable if you need, so there
is on reason to go through and disable a specific driver unless you
need to, since the ones that cause major problems are already disabled
by default.

Usually any services that are running shouldn't be disabled. What

There are a couple of ways to disable services.

Go to System - > Administration -> Services. You can disable services
you don't need like Apache, Mail etc.

In the folder /etc/rc5.d are all the links to services that run on
startup. Since they are links you can delete them. I would copy them
to a folder in your home folder just in case you want to move them
back.
