Blue Fish ftp error in Ubuntu

Date: Jan 08    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 431

I am a linux newb. I was running freespire and decided to switch to
ubuntu.

I am trying to edit a website with bluefish. When I trie to load the
url ftp://mydomain.com it says *could not read filename*

Anyone know why it would work in freespire and not ubuntu? Is there
something I need to check in the synaptic package manager or
something?

On the bluefish list there was some talk about one of the ubuntu
versions not getting the updates. Truthfully, I always just edit all my
pages and then use gftp to do my uploads.

I can't even pull up the pages to view them tho. I did
edit>preferences>add>(typed in)ftp>

Tried it with %s and then without the %s. Without it, it pulled up
one page, in html, but none of the rest of the directory.
