Assistance with Verizon Aircard

Date: Dec 06    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 289

I picked up a verizon Aircard, USB 760 for a Dell Studio 1535. While
it works fine for windows, I havent been able to get it to be seen by Ubuntu
yet. running 8.04 version. I spend my time out in the boonies and away from
any type of Wifi connection, so havent tested out the dell with that, but no
wifi is showing up in the network app.

I read about a similar problem on the ubuntu forums, but even after making the
changes they recommend, I still am unable to 'see' the modem on the usb port..
any suggestions? I would really like to get away from windows if I can, but if
I cant hit the net with linux, it wont be much use for me.

If you start a terminal session, and enter the command:

lsusb

does the Aircard appear? If so, it might give you a model number for searching
the forums or on Google.
