You should use JDK 1.3 and there’s no magic involved in setting the jboss  classpath, AFAIK if you get the distro you should just have a JDK 1.3 and JAVA_HOME env var set  and it should work  fine. Btw, why don’t you use www.jboss.org/forums ?
